Known for its deep commitment to conservation and sustainability, MalaMala Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s most iconic luxury safari destinations, required a reliable off-grid power solution to support its remote location in the heart of the Sabi Sand Reserve. With limited access to stable grid power and a strong focus on protecting the natural environment, MalaMala partnered with Sunspec Solar and Hubble Energy to ensure uninterrupted operations powered by clean energy.

 

The installation features HV768 battery clusters, which provide 10 000 cycles and advanced cell and module balancing for optimal efficiency and reliability. Fully generator integrated and PLC controlled, the system intelligently manages power from solar, batteries, and backup generators to maintain seamless operation for lodge activities, conservation initiatives, and guest comfort. Hubble supported the project with on-site commissioning and ongoing remote monitoring to keep the system performing at its best. This off-grid solution guarantees reliable, sustainable power while supporting MalaMala’s long-standing mission of conservation and eco-conscious tourism.

Rattray’s on MalaMala is an intimate, ultra-luxury safari experience within the renowned MalaMala Game Reserve. Designed for privacy, comfort, and deep connection to nature, the camp required a reliable off-grid energy solution suited to its remote location in the Sabi Sand Reserve. To maintain uninterrupted operations and support its sustainability goals, Rattray’s partnered with Sunspec Solar and Hubble Energy to deliver a robust, clean power system tailored to off-grid hospitality.

 

The HV512 batteries used in this system feature a built-in Cloudlink for real-time remote monitoring, along with a modular, scalable design that allows the system to expand with the lodge’s energy needs. Fully generator integrated and PLC controlled, the system intelligently manages power flow, ensuring critical operations are prioritised and energy is used efficiently. Hubble provided on-site commissioning, technical support, and remote monitoring to ensure long-term system performance. This installation empowers Rattray’s to continue offering exceptional guest experiences while honouring the conservation principles at the heart of MalaMala.

Nestled in the heart of the Sabi Sand Reserve, Kirkman's Kamp offers an intimate and luxurious safari experience, combining privacy, comfort, and immersion in the natural environment. With its remote location, the lodge required a dependable off-grid energy solution to ensure uninterrupted operations for both guests and staff. Hubble Energy partnered with Sunspec Solar to deliver a high-performance, clean power system capable of supporting full lodge operations while aligning with the lodge’s sustainability and conservation objectives.

 

The HV768 batteries provide 10 000 cycles and active cell and module balancing, ensuring reliable, efficient energy delivery even under demanding conditions. Fully generator integrated and PLC controlled, the system automatically coordinates power between solar, batteries, and backup generators to maintain seamless operations. The installation included on-site commissioning, ongoing technical support, and remote monitoring, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This solution enables Kirkman's to provide exceptional guest experiences while preserving the delicate ecosystem of the Sabi Sand.

Faced with the challenge of a remote location and

the need for a sustainable, eco-friendly system, The

Outpost, a luxury game lodge in the Kruger National

Park, chose Hubble’s High Voltage System. They needed an on-site, off-grid system that ensured uninterrupted power supply, no matter the circumstances.

 

They now have 118 on-site solar panels which run on a Hubble battery system of 256kWh. This system can recharge within seven hours of daylight and power 100% of the lodge’s needs, which include full lodge operations as well as conservation, wildlife-monitoring and antipoaching security devices.

 

Using innovative smart technology, the system is easily upgradeable and can be fitted into standard server cabinets.
